Ozone and C-2

C-2 with UB1002 and Fast Track USB at iMac for Skype <-

As Ozone (Academic) was connected to iMac instead of FastTrackUSB, I connected one of C-2 directly to Ozone, because Ozone provides 48V phantom power unlike FastTrackUSB.

Also, I installed several software such as Skype2, Firefox, Thunderbird, iTunes7, etc. to iMac again, because Mac OS X had been reinstalled early this week.

Pro Tools Academic and Mac OS X Tiger - #5

Digidesign Technical Support replied to me for my question about Pro Tools Academic installation trouble on Mac OS X. Basically, he seemed to think it was caused by read/write permission of the drive. I tried all his suggestions, but it still did not work.

I tried to install PT LE 7.0, but it also failed at almost the same place, so it was not a PT Academic specific issuec but something wrong maybe OS level. I learnt that Mac OS X had "Disk Utility" to verify/repair disk as well as file permission of the drive. I verified the disk, and it failed with "Invalid node structure". I needed to boot from the Install DVD to repair the disk because it was a startup disk, however, it also failed with the same error.

I erased the drive, and reinstalled Mac OS X v10.4.6. I did not upgrade to v10.4.7, because Digidesign officially supports v10.4.6. Then, I successfully installed PT Academic 7.1.1. I installed the driver of Ozone Academic, and finally launched PT Academic.

I have been using Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger and Windows XP for my desktop since I left Sun, though I had mainly used Solaris and Linux for a long time unitl that time.

I may continue using Solaris Nevada for the server, because it has 1TB ZFS RAID-Z storage.

Returned to the Moon

I left Sun for Moon on 8/3/2006.
